All Western Union medical plans:
- Give you comprehensive coverage, including preventive care covered at 100% and prescription drug coverage.
- Have an out-of-pocket maximum—a feature that limits what you pay in any year if you have large medical expenses.
- Offer the choice to see any licensed provider—but you receive the highest level of coverage when you choose one from your plan’s Cigna network.

$1,850 and $2,850 Deductible
Plans with HSA
The $1,850 and $2,850 Deductible Plans are offered through Cigna. These plans are suited for people who like to pay less in monthly contributions and more when they receive care.
Both plans:
- Include free in-network preventive care and cover the same services as the $400 Deductible Plan.
- Have higher deductibles in exchange for lower paycheck contributions than the $400 Deductible Plan.
- Allow you to open your own tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA). Your HSA lets you save pre-tax dollars to pay for your eligible health expenses anytime, even in retirement. Western Union makes a contribution to your HSA to help you cover costs, too.
Here is how the $1,850 and $2,850 Deductible Plans with HSA are different:
- The $2,850 Deductible Plan has a smaller network of Cigna doctors and medical providers. Before choosing this plan, check Cigna.com and select the LocalPlus Network from the medical plan drop down to see if your doctors are in the Cigna LocalPlus Network. You save money when you use Cigna LocalPlus Network providers.
- What you pay when you get care. Compare your plans.
- How much you pay each month. Review your 2018 monthly costs.
How the Plans Work
The $1,850 and $2,850 Deductible Plans with HSA are consumer-driven health plans that combine traditional health coverage with a Health Savings Account (HSA) that you and Western Union can contribute to in order to help you pay for your eligible medical expenses.
Any money left in your HSA at the end of the year will remain in your account. That money is yours to keep, even if you leave Western Union.
When You Receive Care
- You may use any licensed provider, but you save money when you use providers in your plan’s Cigna network.
- You pay the full cost of most medical and prescription drug expenses until you pay your deductible amount.
- After you have met the deductible, you will pay a percentage of the cost (coinsurance) for each service until you reach the annual out-of-pocket maximum.
- Once you have met the out-of-pocket maximum, the plan pays most services at 100% for the rest of that plan year.

$400 Deductible Plan
The $400 Deductible Plan is offered through Cigna. It’s a more “traditional” type of PPO plan—suited for people who like to pay more in monthly contributions and less when they receive care.
The $400 Deductible Plan:
- Has a lower deductible and higher paycheck deduction than the $1,850 and $2,850 Deductible Plans.

Is not compatible with an HSA
- Covers the same services as the $1,850 and $2,850 Deductible Plans, including free in-network preventive care.
- Uses the Cigna Open Access Network—the same network of providers as the $1,850 Deductible plan with HSA.
How it Works
When you receive care
- You may use any licensed provider, but you save money when you use providers in the Cigna Open Access Network.
- You pay the full cost of most medical expenses until you pay your deductible amount.
- After you have met the deductible, you will pay a percentage of the cost (coinsurance) or a small copayment for each service until you reach the annual out-of-pocket maximum.
- Once you have met the out-of-pocket maximum, the plan pays most services at 100% for the rest of that plan year.

Prescription Drugs
Prescription drug coverage comes with every Western Union medical plan and is provided by Cigna. The amount you pay depends on which medical plan you choose and where you purchase the prescription (retail drug store or mail order).
Save Money with Generic Drugs
Switching from brand-name drugs to generic, when appropriate, can save you money. Oftentimes, generics work just as well as brand-name drugs—at a fraction of the cost.
Here is an example: For a 30-day supply of a cholesterol-lowering medication, the brand-name drug Crestor costs nearly $400 while its generic equivalent costs under $10!
Talk with your doctor. Ask if it is possible to switch your prescriptions from brand-name drugs to generic.
